"Gilded New York" in today's New York Times

The Fifth Avenue mansion of THE MRS. ASTOR.
A marvelous exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York, "Gilded New York", is profiled in today's edition of the New York Times. I attended the opening last week that showcased a select group of objects from the period including portraits, jewelry and clothing, etc. It was wonderful to see the dress that Alice Vanderbilt wore to Alva Vanderbilt's famous party, where Alice went as the newly invented electric light. If you are in New York in the next few months, don't miss it, but if you can't and even if you do attend, buy the book, "Gilded New York" that goes with the exhibit. http://www.mcny.org/content/gilded-new-york
